Strengthening climate and gender-focused finance in Ecuador

Banco Pichincha is Ecuador’s largest bank, with a strong focus on expanding access to finance for underserved individuals and small businesses. The bank has an established track record in financing female-owned businesses while simultaneously actively strengthening its focus on sustainable finance, including initiatives in green lending and agricultural financing.
ILX participated in a loan structured by FMO that helps the bank finance eligible climate finance projects, with a focus on sustainable agriculture and increasing access to credit for women-led MSMEs. Through this, the bank can scale its green lending activities, including to those which have no or limited access to finance, while strengthening resilience and sustainability across key sectors of the Ecuadorian economy.
