Integrating solar and storage capacity in Uzbekistan
ILX participated in financing arranged by EBRD to a large-scale renewable energy project in the Tashkent region of Uzbekistan. The loan supports the development, construction, and operation of a 200 MW solar plant and a 501 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS), the largest of its kind in Central Asia. The financing enables the generation of substantial renewable energy capacity. At the same time, the BESS component counteracts the variability of renewable energy, storing surplus power and releasing it to maintain a consistent supply. By increasing the share of renewable energy, the project contributes to the country’s ambition to produce 40% of its electricity from renewable sources by 2030.
