Enhancing sustainable glass production in Türkiye

Şişecam is a global leader in glass and chemicals manufacturing. Based in Türkiye, the company is among the world’s top five producers of flat glass and glass packaging and the largest global glassware manufacturer, with operations in 14 countries and exports to over 150 markets. This investment is ILX’s first investment in Türkiye’s materials sector.

ILX participated in a loan syndicated by the IFC that includes sustainability-linked margin step-downs tied to pre-defined gender diversity and water efficiency targets. The investment supports Şişecam multi-year investment programme focused on expanding production capacity and improving energy efficiency. These investments are expected to reduce fuel intensity by 28% and electricity consumption by 16%, while expanding production of solar glass, a critical component for the renewable energy sector.
