Advancing inclusive banking through digital innovation

ILX participated in a senior unsecured syndicated loan from IFC to one of the largest banks in Mongolia. The bank has a strong focus on reaching a broad and often underserved population, including rural communities and women borrowers – the majority of the bank’s 5,000 employees and 51% of its borrowers are female.

The facility supports the bank’s lending to MSMEs, with a particular focus on women-owned and led-businesses (50% of the proceeds). The funding enables the bank to expand access to credit for entrepreneurs who are often underserved by the financial system, supporting business growth, job creation and income generation. Additionally, the financing enables the bank to future-proof its strategy: building strong digital banking solutions, platforms and AI machine learning driven business scoring and decision-making.
