Diversifying renewable energy in Georgia

Sector: Utilities

MDB/DFI Counterpart: EBRD

ILX participated in financing, in two tranches, alongside EBRD, the development of a large-scale wind power plant project in Georgia’s Gori and Kareli region. With an installed capacity of 206 MW, it is designed to expand the country’s renewable energy capacity and diversify the country’s hydro-dominated electricity system.

The facility supports the development of the project, enabling additional clean energy generation and strengthening the country’s energy security. The project aligns strongly with the country’s energy strategy to utilise its wind energy potential and support electricity trade with neighbouring countries.
